Leigh Dayton is an award-winning writer and broadcaster with over 25 years’ experience covering science, technology, medicine, and the environment. She has worked as a newspaper and magazine reporter, columnist, and radio and television producer and on-air personality.
Leigh holds a PhD from Macquarie University, where her research examined Australia’s science and innovation system, focusing on strategies to advance complex scientific and biomedical projects. She has also worked with leading scientific organisations, including the Office of the Chief Scientist, the Australian Academy of Science, and Science and Technology Australia, and has spoken at international journalism and scientific conferences.
Formerly Science Writer for The Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald, and a reporter for ABC’s Quantum, Leigh has won multiple national awards for science and environmental journalism. Originally from California, she holds dual US and Australian citizenship.
