A leadership consultant, bestselling author, and an experienced executive corporate and board director, general counsel and non-executive director. Julia Banks has worked with global companies and Australian organisations, across industries, the private and public sectors and all levels of government. Julia has also served as a federal government and independent MP in the Australian Parliament.

Julia’s expertise is in leadership, power dynamics – personal power vs positional power, safe, healthy, and respectful workplace cultures, diversity and inclusion, reputational management and governance.

Julia’s current work is broad ranging – Keynote Speaker, ‘In Conversations’ with business leaders, panel work as Moderator, Facilitator, and MC of conferences, workshops and CEO and CxO roundtables. Julia also works 1-on-1 as an executive coach and mentor to individuals.

Julia’s bestselling book ‘PowerPlay, breaking through bias barriers and boys’ clubs’, part memoir and resource guide, was nominated in the 2022 Australian Book Industry Awards, and she has another book in the pipeline.

Julia also regularly authors opinion pieces which have been published in The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, The Saturday Paper & The New Daily, has appeared in radio, television, and mainstream media interviews and various podcasts.

Julia’s broad experience across industries in the corporate and public workplace sectors, and all levels of government – has harnessed her deep understanding and ability to tailor and adapt her keynote speeches, panel discussions and “in conversations” in industries ranging from the law, manufacturing, professional and finance services, IT, construction, retail, sport, research, media, academia and all levels of government.

Julia Banks graduated in Arts & Law from Monash University in Melbourne Australia, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Governance Institute.
