Joe Montemurro is one of Australia’s most respected international football coaches, with a career spanning Australia and some of the biggest clubs in European football.
A Melbourne-born coach, Joe has spent more than a decade operating at the highest levels of the global game, leading Arsenal Women, Juventus Women and Olympique Lyonnais Féminin and delivering success across England, Italy and France.
Joe’s journey began in Melbourne, where he established himself as a coach with a clear philosophy and a commitment to developing people and high-performing teams. In the 2015/16 season, he guided Melbourne City to an undefeated A-League Women championship — a success that opened the door to an extraordinary European career.
In 2017, Joe became the first Australian to manage Arsenal Women, where he led the club to multiple trophies, including the 2018/19 Women’s Super League title. He went on to take charge of Juventus Women, delivering the 2021/22 Serie A title and further domestic silverware, before moving to French powerhouse Olympique Lyonnais Féminin in 2024 and guiding the club to the 2024/25 domestic league title.
