James Tobin is a dynamic television personality and entertainment reporter, widely recognised for his work across the Seven Network on Sunrise, Weekend Sunrise, and The Morning Show. He delivers the latest in entertainment news, celebrity interviews, and feature stories, and is also seen on weekends roving across Australia to meet locals and present the weather.
James has featured as the face of campaigns including Seven’s Vaalia Happiness and Oral-B’s Powering Australian Smiles. He also maintains corporate partnerships, notably with Sabre Pacific Travel, for whom he hosts internal web videos and corporate events.
Beginning his media career in 1999 as a music researcher with ARN, James quickly progressed to Austereo’s 2Day FM and became a national voice on Kyle and Jackie O’s Hot 30. He transitioned to television with Foxtel’s Nickelodeon, hosting sn:tv, specials such as Head to Head, and appearances on Sarvo and the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. In 2000, he joined the Seven Network hosting Eclipse Music TV and the children’s game show Go Go Stop.
In 2008, James joined Sunrise as entertainment reporter, conducting interviews with stars including Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., Kelly Clarkson, Jack Black, and The Foo Fighters. He has also ventured into acting, appearing in the drama All Saints and the feature film Lovely Scary Wolves, and competed on Dancing with the Stars.
Beyond television, James is an active ambassador for Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off the Streets and the mental health initiative Headspace. He combines media expertise, audience engagement, and corporate professionalism, making him a sought-after host, MC, and presenter for both broadcast and live events.
