Greg Chappell AO MBE

Greg Chappell is one of Australia’s most celebrated cricketing legends and a towering figure in the history of the game. Over a distinguished career, he played 87 Test matches for Australia — captaining the side 48 times — and retired as the nation’s all-time leading Test run-scorer with 7,110 runs, surpassing even the great Donald Bradman.

Recognised for his extraordinary contribution to sport, Greg was awarded an MBE in 1979, named Wisden Leading Cricketer of the Year the same year, inducted into the Australian Sport Hall of Fame in 1986, and most recently appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2021.

Since retiring from international cricket, Greg has remained at the forefront of the sport through board, selector and coaching roles with the Australian Cricket Board, the Australian team, South Australia, Pakistan and India. Beyond the boundary, he is a passionate advocate for youth, working with the Chappell Foundation to raise awareness and funds for youth homelessness.
