Ellen Fanning is an award-winning current affairs journalist and an exceptional MC, moderator, and facilitator. She hosts ABC TV’s The Drum, a panel discussion program that tackles the day’s news, and regularly anchors breaking news events for the ABC’s 24-hour news service.
With extensive experience across politics, social, cultural, and business issues, Ellen brings clarity, poise, and insight to every event. She has reported from the North Pole, Transylvania, aboard an Australian Navy submarine under the Indian Ocean, and 30,000 feet above Serbia in a US Air Force refuelling jet. She has interviewed every Australian Prime Minister and numerous world leaders, combining depth of knowledge with approachability and ease on stage.
Ellen began her career breaking new ground as the first woman to host a national ABC Radio current affairs program at just 24, later anchoring PM, AM, and hosting ABC TV’s 7.30 Report. She has also reported for Nine Network’s 60 Minutes and Sunday programs, and written as a columnist for The Bulletin.
An accomplished MC and facilitator, Ellen works closely with clients to ensure event objectives are met, scripts flow seamlessly, and speakers feel confident. She has hosted award ceremonies, corporate events, and community functions across Australia, bringing insight, professionalism, and a deft ability to engage audiences with confidence and intelligence.
