Dr Tim Sharp is a clinical psychologist, best-selling author, and internationally recognised expert in positive psychology and workplace happiness. Holding three degrees in psychology, including a PhD, he has forged a remarkable career as an academic, clinician, executive coach, and thought leader.
Dr Sharp established one of Sydney’s most respected clinical psychology practices, a highly regarded Executive Coaching practice, and is the founder and Chief Happiness Officer of The Happiness Institute—Australia’s first organisation devoted solely to enhancing happiness in individuals, families, and organisations.
An accomplished academic, Dr Sharp has taught at all major universities in NSW and served as an Adjunct Professor in Positive Psychology at both the University of Technology Sydney’s School of Management and RMIT’s School of Health Sciences. His expertise spans building positive workplace cultures, developing effective leadership, boosting resilience, and challenging the stigma surrounding mental ill-health.
Dr Sharp has worked with numerous high-profile organisations including Twitter, Dyson, Ernst & Young, Mallesons, Allens Arthur Robinson, IBM, AMP, Westpac, NAB, Coles, Coca-Cola Amatil, Telstra, and KPMG. He has also contributed to leading publications such as the Sydney Morning Herald, Body & Soul, and HIF’s Healthy Lifestyle Blog, and collaborated with brands like AMP, BankWest, AMEX, Tip Top, Officeworks, Fitness First, and Jenny Craig.
A prolific author, Dr Sharp has written multiple best-selling books, including The Happiness Handbook, 100 Ways to Happiness: A Guide for Busy People, 100 Ways to Happy Children: A Guide for Busy Parents, and his most recent release, Lost & Found: How to Wander Your Way to a Better Life (2024). He has also produced 10 audiobooks, including Habits for Happiness exclusively for Audible.
Dr Sharp is a sought-after public speaker and media commentator, appearing on nationally screened prime-time shows such as Sunrise, Today, and The Morning Show, as well as in publications including Prevention Magazine, Herald Sun, Women’s Health, SMH, and the Australian Financial Review.
Recognised for his contributions to leadership and wellbeing, Dr Sharp received a Future Leadership Award from the Australian Davos Connection in 2008 and served as an Australia Day Ambassador from 2011. Passionate about social impact, he dedicates much of his time to “good causes,” notably as resident Chief Happiness Officer at youth mental health organisation batyr and as a mentor to emerging leaders in the social enterprise and NFP sectors.
