Dr. Chris Brown is one of Australia’s most recognised veterinarians and a familiar face in the media, best known as the star of Bondi Vet and a regular guest on The Project. With a deep passion for animal welfare and a commitment to education, Dr. Brown has built a career that seamlessly blends veterinary science with a love for sharing knowledge with the public.
After graduating with First Class Honours in Veterinary Science from the University of Sydney in 2001, Dr. Brown began his career working as a veterinarian on Sydney’s North Shore. His career then took him to remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory, where he provided much-needed care for animals in isolated areas. His ability to connect with both animals and people caught the attention of the media, and in 2004, he made his television debut as the vet on Harry’s Practice. This led to opportunities such as becoming the host vet on Burke’s Backyard and launching Bondi Vet in 2008, a show that quickly became a hit and aired internationally as Dr. Chris: Pet Vet. He later went on to co-host shows such as I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Dancing with the Stars, alongside making regular appearances on various TV programs.
In addition to his television work, Dr. Brown is the author of The Family Guide to Pets, which has sold over 25,000 copies and remains a go-to resource for pet owners. He regularly contributes to Woman’s Day and has made numerous radio appearances to share his veterinary expertise.
A passionate advocate for animal welfare, Dr. Brown serves as an ambassador for Assistance Dogs Australia and works closely with Purina Petcare as a corporate ambassador. Despite his high-profile media career, Dr. Brown continues to practice as a veterinarian in Bondi, keeping his connection to veterinary science and his clients at the heart of his work.
Whether on television, in print, or through his hands-on work with animals, Dr. Chris Brown remains dedicated to improving the lives of pets and the people who love them.
