Dermott Brereton is a former Australian Rules Football legend and one of the most recognisable personalities in Australian media. He had an illustrious playing career with the Hawthorn Football Club, appearing in five premiership sides and representing his State on nine occasions. Over his professional career, Dermott played 211 games for Hawthorn, later representing Collingwood and Sydney, and kicked a total of 464 goals. Widely regarded as one of the greatest centre half-forwards of all time, Dermott also served as coach of the Australian team for the International Rules Series against Ireland for two years after his retirement in 1995.

Following his on-field career, Dermott transitioned seamlessly into media and broadcasting. Over a 20-year association with Channel Nine, he hosted and provided commentary for Friday Night Football, appeared as a regular panellist on the AFL Footy Show and Sunday Footy Show, and contributed across a variety of programs. Dermott also spent two years hosting Channel Seven’s prime-time football program The Game, anchored Sportsworld nationally, and played an integral role in Channel Seven’s Sydney 2000 Olympic Games coverage.

In 2007, Dermott joined the cast of the award-winning prime-time travel show Getaway, marking a shift from sport to lifestyle television. His versatility has seen him present on Postcards Victoria, fill in as weather presenter alongside Steve Jacobs, and appear on The Today Show. Dermott continues to be a leading voice in sport as a Fox Footy commentator, hosting shows such as Dermie Delivers and co-hosting Saturday Countdown, while also contributing to SEN Radio with a weekly segment on Daily Drive and AFL commentary when available.

In 2019, Dermott brought his adventurous spirit to national reality TV on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, emerging with a renewed appreciation for life. Known for his warmth, humour, and fun-loving approach, he embodies the quintessential Aussie larrikin with a big heart. Dermott is also a highly sought-after keynote speaker and MC, sharing his insights, energy, and life lessons at corporate and sporting events across the country.
