Quick Contact
David Schwarz is a former AFL star, media personality, and highly sought-after corporate speaker whose journey from elite athlete to overcoming personal challenges inspires audiences across Australia. Known on the field as “the Ox” for his strength, agility, and resilience, David played 173 games for the Melbourne Football Club over an 11-year career, excelling as a full forward and centre half forward.
David’s playing career was marked by courage and determination, including a return to top-level football after multiple knee reconstructions. Off the field, however, he faced a formidable personal battle with gambling addiction, which saw him lose every dollar he had earned and nearly destroy his life. Drawing on the same resilience that defined his AFL career, David overcame these challenges and has dedicated himself to helping others confront their own obstacles.
Since retiring from football in 2001, David has built a successful media career, appearing regularly on Channel 9’s The Footy Show, Sunday Football Panel, and as an analyst on Triple M. He co-hosts SEN 1116’s The Run Home with Francis Leach and appears on Channel Seven’s Game Day program, having previously contributed to Sportsworld and AFL broadcasts.
In 2007, David was appointed Responsible Gaming Ambassador by the ALH Group, educating employees and customers about responsible gambling. In 2010, he released his best-selling autobiography All Bets Are Off, offering an honest and courageous account of his life and journey to overcome addiction.
Today, David Schwarz is a compelling speaker and MC, using his story of resilience, determination, and personal transformation to motivate audiences to confront challenges, embrace change, and achieve their full potential.
