David Powell is an international life skills mentor, author, and executive facilitator dedicated to empowering individuals and teams to achieve their full potential. He is the founder of The Golden Thread and the Life Journey Skills online course, programs designed to provide practical, transformative skills for personal and professional success.
Born in the UK, David earned a first-class honours degree in chemical engineering from Edinburgh University and spent 24 years leading teams in the resources and IT industries. His career took a pivotal turn when he realised his true passion lay in empowering people. Since then, he has worked as a mentor, trainer, and facilitator, helping individuals and teams in hundreds of organisations across 30 countries and five continents, including Allianz, AMP, CBA, Lloyd’s Insurance, Westpac, AT&T, IBM, PWC, and World Vision.
David’s unique approach combines decades of practical business experience with a lifelong study of history, religion, gnostic wisdom, and psychology. Following a year-long overland journey from the UK to Australia, he developed a deep understanding of different cultures and belief systems, which informs his ability to inspire the whole person—body, mind, emotions, and inner being.
Known for sessions that are both highly practical and deeply inspiring, David brings humour, energy, and passion to his workshops and presentations, ensuring engagement and tangible outcomes. His online Life Journey Skills course teaches essential life skills often overlooked in formal education, helping people thrive in all areas of life.
