David Ch’ng is a highly respected authority on international business, cross-cultural management, and the dynamics of Overseas Chinese entrepreneurship in Asia. With extensive experience across Australia, South East Asia, and the Netherlands, David has held senior roles including Project Director, General Manager, Director, Management Consultant, and Counsellor.
He served as Marketing Manager for Unilever Pty Ltd in Malaysia for five years, overseeing the design, execution, and management of marketing research projects across Malaysia and Singapore. In 1996, David founded Mosaic Consultancy Pty Ltd., providing executive training and consultancy in cross-cultural negotiation, marketing planning, creativity management, and innovation.
Recognized as one of Australia’s leading experts on Overseas Chinese entrepreneurs, David has worked with organizations including Asialink, the Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific (RIAP), Managing Differences Pty Ltd., and the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA). He also holds academic positions as Associate Professor at Melbourne Business School, Adjunct Professor at the Australian School of Entrepreneurship (Swinburne University), Associate at the Mount Eliza Centre for Executive Education, and visiting lecturer at the Australian Institute of Management.
David is an award-winning speaker, having received accolades such as Best New Speaker (1996), Speaker of the Year (2002), and multiple 100% Club Awards. His research has enhanced Australia’s understanding of the importance of the Overseas Chinese in ASEAN, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, culminating in his seminal book The Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs of East Asia, which has been translated into Indonesian. He has also published widely in leading journals and monographs, including analyses of the Charoen Pokphand Group in Thailand.
