Few names are more synonymous with rugby than Chris “Buddha” Handy. A larger-than-life sporting icon, Chris captivates audiences worldwide with his sharp wit, endless stories, and unique style. He is a presenter on Channel 7’s Queensland Weekender and an ambassador for XXXX, Bundaberg Rum, and Queensland Rugby.

A former barrel-chested prop forward, Chris earned Wallaby colours, played in six internationals, and lifted the Bledisloe Cup twice against the All Blacks. Known for his rugged play, colorful commentary, and unforgettable quips—like describing a player as having a “face like a squashed grape”—he has entertained millions while commentating the Rugby World Cup (1987–2003) and Super 10 and Super 12 tournaments.

Off the field, Chris is a former accountant and popular publican, having run Brisbane’s iconic “Buddha’s Brisbane Tavern.” Author of Well I’ll Be Rugged, he has delivered after-dinner talks and keynote presentations across Europe, New Zealand, South Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Affable, engaging, and endlessly entertaining, Chris Handy brings rugby, humor, and storytelling to every stage.
