Quick Contact

Carl Barron is one of Australia’s most beloved stand-up comedians, renowned for his gentle, awkward, and uniquely observational style that resonates with audiences of all ages. Over a career spanning three decades, he has become one of the country’s most successful and respected live performers, with an ability to touch hearts while delivering laughter.

Born in Longreach, Central Queensland, the son of a sheep shearer, Carl started his working life as a roof-tiler on the Gold Coast before moving to Sydney. One night, on a whim, he stepped on stage at the Harold Park Hotel and shared a story about a bird that had pooped on him that day — a simple act that launched a remarkable comedy career.

Since winning Comic of the Year and Best Up-and-Coming Talent in 1993, Carl has headlined every major comedy venue and festival worldwide. His global footprint includes performances across Australia, New York, Los Angeles, London, South Africa, Auckland, Ireland, Singapore, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Edinburgh. He has appeared on over 50 television programs in Australia and internationally, cementing his status as a household name.

Carl’s DVD releases are milestones in Australian comedy history. His first DVD, Carl Barron Live, became the highest-selling stand-up comedy DVD in Australian retail history and won Best Menu Design at the Australian DVD Awards. His second show, Whatever Comes Next, won Best International Show at the New Zealand Comedy Festival, debuted at Number One on the DVD charts, and remained there for over 12 months. It was also nominated for an ARIA award. Remarkably, Carl is the only comedian to have a top 20 selling DVD in the official GFK Charts three years in a row, including having two DVDs in the top twenty simultaneously in 2005 and 2006.

Carl’s charm lies in his non-threatening, relatable humour and his ability to connect deeply with audiences. Whether performing on stage, on television, or at corporate events, he brings warmth, authenticity, and laughter — making him one of the most sought-after comedians in Australia and around the world.

Carl Barron of Australia was the highlight of the evening, with wry observations and hysterical bits on sneezing, burping, farting and just plain stuff. The Gazette Montreal
But the star of the evening is Carl Barron, who has the audience in fits with his resonating observations of common experiences. With a dead-pan expression breaking out into gleaming wickedness, this skinny Gandhilike comedian turns the tables on the mundane, tackling everything from our reactions to stupid questions through to turds with footprints. The Scotsman
His wry, acute insights are so warmly received because people are instantly aware of what he is talking about. Dominion Post
People were laughing so hard they were either crying or nearly falling out of their chairs. Buzzcuts
