Brooke Boney

Journalist and Television Presenter

Brooke Boney is best known as TODAY’s News and Entertainment Presenter for the Nine Network, a role she held from 2019 until mid-2024. With a strong background in political journalism, Brooke’s career has spanned National Indigenous Television (NITV), SBS, the ABC and Triple J, where she was the weekday morning news presenter.

In July 2024, Brooke left the Nine Network to study her Master of Public Policy at Oxford University in the UK. Just before heading to Oxford, she was in France as part of the Nine Network’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. She also co-hosted the 2023 ARIA Awards for Nine and Stan and was a popular guest host on KIIS FM’s Will and Woody national drive show.

In April 2025, Brooke released her first book, All of It — a witty and heartfelt collection of personal reflections on love, loss and ambition.

Growing up in Muswellbrook in the NSW Hunter Region with her mum and five younger siblings, Brooke developed an early love of media, volunteering at her local community radio station while still in high school. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Journalism) from the University of Technology Sydney, working at Koori Radio and interning at the ABC during her studies.

Brooke’s journalism career began in the Canberra press gallery in 2013 as a political correspondent for NITV, covering the leadership spill when Kevin Rudd replaced Julia Gillard, and reporting on the federal election campaign. She joined ABC Radio in 2016, quickly becoming a Triple J fan favourite for her warm, authentic style — famously opening bulletins with “Yaama,” the Gamilaroi word for hello.

As a proud Gamilaroi woman, Brooke has been at the forefront of youth culture and has written extensively about the experience of being an Aboriginal person in Australia. Her early role on TODAY included a stint in Los Angeles covering the 2020 awards season and the death of Kobe Bryant, and she has since interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment. She is also a columnist for Sunday Life, co-host of The Dream Club podcast with Linda Marigliano, and a regular presenter at major events including the ARIA Awards.

Beyond her on-screen work, Brooke is a board member of the Sydney Theatre Company and an Ambassador for the GO Foundation.
