After retiring from professional cricket in 2001, he quickly established himself as a natural on-screen talent, becoming one of the most familiar faces in Australian lifestyle and travel television.
Born in Hamilton, New Zealand and raised in Western Australia, Brendon’s cricket journey began at boarding school in Perth before advancing to the Australian Cricket Academy and the Western Warriors. A powerful all-rounder, he went on to represent Australia in seven Test matches and 25 One Day Internationals, and was a member of Australia’s 1999 Cricket World Cup–winning squad. His career took him across the cricketing world, with playing stints in the West Indies, India, South Africa, Ireland and Scotland.
Following his retirement, Brendon transitioned into media, first presenting on Postcards WA and Just Add Water before joining Channel Nine’s Getaway. Across 2003 and 2004, he travelled the globe as one of the program’s key reporters, sharing stories from iconic destinations and remote corners of the world. His down-to-earth personality, humour and deep appreciation for travel resonated with audiences, cementing his place as a trusted and engaging presenter.
Beyond television, Brendon has ventured into business, including co-owning a gourmet fish and chip café in Subiaco—a fitting passion project for a self-confessed non-cook. Today, he continues to live in Perth with his wife Suzanne and their daughter, balancing his media work with family life.
With a unique blend of sporting achievement, broadcasting experience and global perspective, Brendon Julian brings authenticity, insight and warmth to every project he takes on. He remains a highly respected figure in Australian sport and television.
