Axle Whitehead is an Australian musician, presenter and actor, best known for playing rocker Liam Murphy on Home and Away, hosting World’s Strictest Parents, and serving as the inaugural host of Network Ten’s Video Hits. A versatile performer, Axle has worked across television, music, fashion and live events for more than two decades.

Axle has hosted major events including Myer and Fashion Week launches, Make Poverty History, and the national Wakakirri primary school cultural competition. He has fronted national campaigns, including serving as the face of Marcs clothing across print, outdoor and in-store media, and was awarded Cleo Bachelor of the Year in 2009.

Trained at the Victorian College of the Arts before pursuing a jazz career, Axle has performed alongside artists such as Deborah Conway and Killing Heidi, with standout gigs at iconic venues including The Basement in Sydney. His early acting work included roles in The Secret Life of Us, Stingers and feature films including Ned Kelly.

Axle first came to national attention as a contestant on Australian Idol (Top 40), later returning as a Grand Final guest performer before being snapped up to host Video Hits. During his three years with the show, he interviewed global superstars including Justin Timberlake, Oasis, Destiny’s Child, Green Day, Usher and Avril Lavigne, and filmed specials across Australia and internationally.

A committed supporter of youth and health charities, he has served as an ambassador for the Red Cross Youth Challenge Awards, Camp Quality, World AIDS Day, Variety Club, Shave for a Cure and National Youth Week.

In 2007 Axle launched his recording career, with his debut single I Don’t Do Surprises reaching No.1 on the iTunes charts and his album Losing Sleep debuting in the ARIA Top 10. In 2009 he joined Home and Away, bringing to life the character of Liam Murphy and cementing his place as a favourite with audiences.
