Anthony Seibold is an accomplished coach, former representative player, and educator, recognised for his dynamic leadership style and deep understanding of high-performance teams. Currently the Head Coach of the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League (NRL), Anthony brings over two decades of professional rugby experience and academic expertise to his coaching and leadership practices.
Anthony’s rugby career began in 1992 when he made his NRL debut with the Brisbane Broncos. He later played for the Canberra Raiders, before taking his talents overseas to the English Super League, where he played for the London Broncos and the Hull Kingston Rovers, retiring from professional rugby in 2005.
Transitioning from player to coach, Anthony’s coaching career took off in Wales, where he served as Assistant Coach for the Celtic Crusaders. He played an instrumental role in leading the club into their first season at Super League level. Anthony’s coaching career continued to flourish, and in 2010, he took on his first Head Coach role with the South Wales Scorpions, leading the team to the play-offs in their inaugural season.
Returning to Australia in 2012, Anthony’s coaching journey continued with the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup, before being appointed Assistant Coach at the Melbourne Storm and later the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. He also enjoyed success as an Assistant Coach with the Queensland State of Origin team, helping lead the team to multiple victories.
In 2017, Anthony joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs as Assistant Coach under Michael Maguire, before being appointed Head Coach of the Rabbitohs in 2018. In his first season as Head Coach, he guided the club to a top-four finish and its first Preliminary Final since 2014, developing key players like Damien Cook, Cody Walker, Cameron Murray, and Campbell Graham. Anthony’s exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Dally M Coach of the Year award.
In 2019, Anthony returned to the Brisbane Broncos as their Head Coach, where he continues to build a legacy of success and leadership, drawing on his deep understanding of the game and his experience developing future stars.
Beyond his rugby career, Anthony is an academic with a focus on education and leadership. He holds a Masters of Education from the University of Southern Queensland, a Bachelor of Teaching from the Australian Catholic University, and has lectured at the University of Southern Queensland in the Faculty of Education. His academic background informs his approach to leadership, teamwork, and performance management.
Anthony has also completed executive leadership programs at two of the world’s most prestigious institutions: Harvard University and Stanford University, where he honed his skills in organisational leadership, strategy, and personal development.
