Anthony Field AM is best known as the beloved Blue Wiggle and founding member of The Wiggles, the world’s most successful children’s entertainment group. As musical producer and creative director, Anthony has been at the helm of The Wiggles’ extraordinary global success for more than three decades, creating music, television, live shows, and digital content that continues to inspire generations of children and families worldwide.
Anthony’s career began in the 1980s as a founding member of the chart-topping band The Cockroaches. After the tragic loss of his infant niece in 1988, the band disbanded, prompting Anthony to return to university to complete a Diploma in Early Childhood Education at Macquarie University. It was during his studies that Anthony recorded a children’s album, blending his love of music with early childhood development—a project that laid the foundation for The Wiggles.
Since forming in 1991, The Wiggles have sold over 7 million albums and 23 million videos and DVDs, toured more than 140 countries, and performed more live shows than The Rolling Stones over the same period. Each year, Anthony leads the creation of around 20 hours of new content across television, music, digital platforms, and community outreach, ensuring The Wiggles remain at the forefront of children’s entertainment.
The group’s influence extends beyond entertainment, with long-standing partnerships with organisations including Dreamworld, BabyLove, Medibank, Volkswagen, UNICEF, SIDS and Kids, Starlight Children’s Foundation, and Soldier On. In recognition of their contributions, The Wiggles have received honorary doctorates from Australian Catholic University and Macquarie University, were named UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, and in 2010, Anthony and his co-founders were appointed Members of the Order of Australia (AM).
Beyond The Wiggles, Anthony is widely known as the host of RSPCA Animal Rescue, which aired four successful seasons on the Seven Network. He served in the Australian Army from 1982 to 1985 as an infantry soldier and piper with the 5/7 Royal Australian Regiment, earning the Australian Defence Medal. He is also a passionate advocate for health and wellbeing, inspired by his son Antonio’s nut allergy, serving as a spokesperson for Anaphylaxis Australia, and as an ambassador for the Australian Spinal Research Foundation.
In 2012, Anthony released his bestselling memoir How I Got My Wiggle Back, chronicling his journey overcoming chronic pain, depression, and illness through fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle transformation. His story of resilience and reinvention continues to inspire audiences worldwide, proving the power of determination, creativity, and passion.
With an unwavering commitment to children’s education, music, wellbeing, and philanthropy, Anthony Field AM continues to shape The Wiggles’ legacy while performing, creating, and inspiring new generations of families around the globe.
