Maggie Hamilton

Writer, social researcher and publisher

Writer, social researcher and publisher Maggie Hamilton has a passion for the art of living meaningfully and is a keen observer of social trends.

Maggie has had senior roles in book publishing, where she coached and advised some of the world’s best-selling writers, and with the ABC, where she managed on-air advertising and public affairs for 54 radio stations.

Maggie is also an established and well-respected author in her own right, regularly in demand to write for magazines, give talks and lectures, host workshops and act as a media commentator.

Maggie Hamilton offers a fresh approach to work that meets the challenges of increasing workloads, shrinking resources, retrenchment and takeovers, inspiring us to reclaim our lives within and beyond work. Her courses, workshops and lectures take the participants into a new way of thinking that can contribute to their journey through life.

Also, over three years, Maggie interviewed dozens of boys and girls, teachers, school counsellors, psychologists, law enforcement and medical personnel to get an insider’s view on what girls and boys are experiencing at present. Maggie has now shared her research findings (and solutions) with thousands of parents, teachers and other professionals across Australia and New Zealand, and in wider international forums.

She’s a regular speaker at primary and high school parents’ evenings, PTA gatherings and community groups. Maggie also conducts professional development sessions to schools and other interested professionals, talks to teenagers in schools and is a frequent presenter at conferences. Her clients include International Women’s Day, Department of Aging, Disability and Home Care, Ultimo Chamber of Commerce, University of Western Australia, New Spirit Expo (NZ), Sydney TAFE and Centacom.

Her many books, which have been published in Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada, Britain, Holland, Italy, China, Portugal, Lithuania, Korea, the Arab States and Brazil, include What Men Don’t Talk About, which examines the lives of real men and boys; What’s Happening to Our Girls? and What’s Happening to Our Boys? which canvasses the 21st century issues boys and girls face, offering practical workable solutions, Secret Girls’ Business and Love Your Work, Reclaim Your Life and When We Become Strangers which looks at the isolation we’re currently experiencing in our homes, workplaces and communities and how to move beyond this.

Maggie has also written a number of books for children and presents to children and young adults when she can. Her books for kids include Mister Eternity, The Lost Kingdom of Lantia, My Secret Diary, Magic Tricks, and Very Tricky for kids.
