Lynda Kinkade

Reporter, Today Tonight

Lynda Kinkade has been a broadcast journalist for over 12 years for two of the biggest commercial networks in the country in news and current affairs.

A reporter, producer and stand-by anchor with the Seven Network's Today Tonight program since 2008, Lynda was nominated for Best Current Affairs Story under 10 mins in the Journalism Quill Awards 2011 and received a High Commendation in the Journalism Quill Awards 2012.

Not only is Lynda a highly experienced reporter and producer with a proven track record for breaking stories, gaining the trust of sources and being popular among viewers but she is also in demand with corporate audiences as an MC and panel and forum facilitator.

Lynda is intelligent, natural, engaging, charming and inquisitive, all of which make her an ideal choice for all those roles.

Lynda has hosted events from fundraising luncheons for 300 people to black tie gala balls for 1200. They include Epworth's (Australia's largest private hospital) annual medical fundraising ball at Crown Casino for the last three years and the Sydney Symphony concert in front more than 20,000 people at Parramatta Park in 2009. Lynda has also been the host and forum facilitator at Melbourne's annual ‘Women in Healthcare luncheons' since 2009.

She studied Journalism and majored in Law at the University of Technology, Sydney. During her first year at university she undertook internships at Channel Ten and the Hill Shire Times and by her second year she was hired by the Seven Network as a political researcher.

Following the 2003 NSW state election Lynda was recruited from News to Sunrise as a junior producer on the graveyard shifts. After graduating she moved from Sunrise to NBN working as a roving reporter in Newcastle, Lismore and Tweed Heads

Lynda Kinkade joined the Nine Network twelve months later as an assistant Chief of Staff, going on to become a producer then reporter on the Today Show. She also presented weekend news for the network on the Qantas inflight news, sport and weather.

During her four and a half years at Nine Lynda assisted on the coverage of the Bali bombings, the Boxing Day Tsunami, and the Sea King helicopter disaster. On the road she reported on a range of issues from politics and health to education and entertainment.

Since rejoining Channel 7 Lynda has been based in Melbourne and has covered a variety of stories including an expose on the Rudd Government's Insulation Scandal and an investigation into the Emission Trading Scheme which revealed a major loophole. After the story went to air the Climate Change Minister announced an inquiry into the level of payments to polluters embedded within the ETS resulting in the scheme being shelved.

I approached Lynda as at the 11th hour to compere the 2008 Christian Rock Eisteddfod. Lynda shone as our compere. She remained relaxed and calm when interviewing the students from each high-school and held her composure amidst all the issues that can go right and wrong in a live production

Lynda has been a wonderful asset hosting the annual Epworth Gala Ball at Crown Casino. She beautifully commands the attention of her audience - not an easy task at any event but particularly difficult with an audience of 1200. Lynda is entertaining and engaging and manages to do it all while looking spectacular. I highly recommend Lynda Kinkade as a Master of Ceremonies, panel interviewer or presenter at any future gala event

Fundraising Manager, Epworth Medical Foundation

Our Women in HealthCare luncheon involves a panel of expert speakers discussing a topic of women’s health in front of 300 people. Every year Lynda researches each subject meticulously, providing a comprehensive background to the topic and asking the pertinent questions of each of the expert panel speakers. The audiences always appreciate it when she humanises the role by sharing her personal experience and sense of humour

From the moment Lynda accepted our invitation to be MC at the HeartKids NSW Tiny Tickers Ball 2013 at the Westin in Sydney we found her to be highly professional, warm, caring, and engaged in our special cause. Her attention to detail with her pre preparation through mastering the detail and nuances prior to the event, were second to none. All of this promise was delivered the moment she commanded the stage, charming and engaging with our 500 strong audience. At this time we knew we had a very talented and special host who was pivotal in assisting us to achieve a significant financial result. We would highly recommend Lynda for any professional MC duties and hope that we can tempt her back next year to help us turn our wonderful event from good to great.

Lynda Kinkade has a wonderful, personal, inspiring story to tell and she tells it from the heart. As guest speaker at the Cancer Council Tasmania Pink Ribbon Day Breakfast 2013 she spoke of the emotional journey she experienced as a young girl being diagnosed with a brain tumour. In front of 200 guests Lynda spoke of the impact of the diagnosis and shared a video of that journey and her life to date. Lynda is a survivor and wonderful role model. There is no doubt that the audience that morning was very touched by her ability to speak with such warmth and passion that resonated with all who were in attendance. Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life with us.
