Ilai Swindells is an actor and presenter on stage and screen who's renowned for his high energy and his huge, fun filled personality. Among many shows, he's hosted Break The Future and News To Me for ABCME, worked on the massive sketch series Open Slather for The Comedy Channel and acted in the popular play Death Of A Salesman for Queensland Theatre.

With a warm personality and a great sense of humour, Ilai (pronounced Ill-eye) is an engaging MC and host for awards nights, charity galas and children's events. Always professional and highly flexible, Ilai ensures events run smoothly and that his audiences take home key messages.

Ilai was born in Townsville and raised in central Queensland by his Fijian mother and Australian father. He attended the actors' conservatory in Brisbane and upon graduation in 2012.

Illai made his television and acting debut in 2011 on Fox8's hugely successful drama SLiDE, in which he played the epitome of cool as Jamie, acting alongside Brenton Thwaites (The Giver). The show aired in Australia and internationally and was nominated for an International Emmy Kids Award for Best Kids Series.

Soon after, Ilai appeared on ABC's landmark television series, Redfern Now supporting a stellar cast of Australia's finest young and upcoming talent with the likes of Shari Sebbens, and Miranda Tapsell (Sapphires). Since then, Ilai has acted alongside David Wenham (Getting Square) in ABC's drama series, The Code, and in the ABC Studios (US) television series; and Harrow as Billie Radbourne.

He has also acted alongside some of Australia's biggest comedic talent (Magda Szubanski, Hamish Blake, Stephen Curry, Gina Riley, Jane Turner, Shane Jacobson) on Foxtel's original Sketch Comedy series, Open Slather which screened 20 episodes on The Comedy Channel to great success. Additionally, he has acted with international stars, Amy Schumer (Trainwreck) and Bill Hader (SNL, The Skeleton Twins.

Ilai has starred in a mix of short films that have appeared at many Australian Film festivals, among them the Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, Dungog Film Festival, Bondi Film Festival, Cockatoo Island Film Festival, these films include Julia, (Qpix), Blackbuster (ABC, Lala Pictures), Talisman (Welle Films).

On stage, Ilai has worked on productions with ATYP, La Boite Theatre Company and Queensland Theatre. Productions have included a season of Death Of A Salesman and the demanding play Wind In The Willows, a one man show, in which he played Toad and nine other characters.
