Olympic Queen of the Pool

Olympic swimmer, Libby Trickett is one of Australia’s premier sportspeople who consistently delivers world beating performances.

Our ever smiling queen of the pool has been integral in the country’s world dominance in swimming with Gold, Silver and Bronze to her name.

Libby Trickett collected two gold medals, a silver and a bronze at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. It was a superb effort following her disappointment four years earlier at the 2004 Games in Athens. Having broken Inge de Bruijn's world record for the 100 metres freestyle during the semi-finals at the Australian Olympic trials, the pressure of being an Australian favourite got the better of her and she did not make it through the finals in Athens.

Regardless, she left the Games with a Gold by helping Australia triumph in the 4x100m freestyle final and also took Bronze in the 50m freestyle.

A year after Athens, she won her first individual world title in the 50m, in 2006, she won six Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and five at the short-course world championships in Shanghai. In 2007, Libby Trickett collected five Gold medals at the World Championships in Melbourne. She won a further five Golds at the 2007 long-course world titles in Melbourne, including three individual events.

Libby Trickett, who learnt to swim in Tropical North Queensland, and swam in her first race at the age of four, is not only a highly respected athlete, but a well recognized and revered personality. With her infectious smile and affable persona, she is in demand as a speaker for corporate events.
