The son of Greek migrants, Lex Marinos has worked in all areas of the entertainment industry as an actor, director, writer, radio commentator, producer and festival director.

Awarded an OAM for his services to the performing arts, Lex is the former Deputy Chair of the Australia Council and former Chair of the Community Cultural Development Fund of the Australia Council. He was a Board Member of the Multicultural Advisory Committee for SOCOG, and a member of the creative and production team for the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

In 2000-2001, he was Executive Producer of Yeperenye Federation Festival, which took place in Alice Springs as part of Centenary of Federation Celebrations. From 1996 to 1999, he was Director of Carnivale, NSW’s multicultural arts festival.

On radio, Lex first made a name for himself as a producer/presenter on 2JJ/2JJJ-FM in the 70s. Since then he has been a presenter on various ABC and commercial networks, currently as part of Richard Glover’s Thank God It’s Friday on Sydney 702.

As a director, Lex has worked in all forms of media. His films include An Indecent Obsession, Boundaries of the Heart, Hard Knuckle and the television series’ Bodyline, Embassy, and numerous documentaries and theatre productions.

A regular on television, Lex is best known for the series Kingswood Country and most recently The Slap. His other television credits include S.C.O.O.P, Live and Sweaty, Ballzup, Good News Week and World Series Debating. In theatre he has appeared with the Nimrod, APG Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Belvoir, as well as in various commercial productions including the hugely successful King and I.

As a writer, Lex has written for a variety of publications including articles in the Bulletin, The Weekend Australian, and the Good Weekend.

Speaking about arts, cultural policy, immigration and sport, Lex is an ideal keynote speaker or master of ceremonies for conferences, award presentations, corporate debates, trivia nights and government events.
