Host of Australian Idol, Host & MC
Andrew Günsberg, also known as Andrew G, first came to Australia's attention as the face of Australian Idol, and the voice of Australia's largest weekly radio countdown, Take 40 Australia.
Today he is a successful TV/radio presenter and photographer based in Los Angeles where he hosts the CBS Show Live to Dance with Paula Abdul, and the weekly syndicated Australian radio show The Hot Hits Live from LA.
Andrew's great love and knowledge of music makes him one of the foremost presenters in Australia and the US. His charm, great stage presence, and love of people have ensured that Andrew is regularly called on to MC awards nights, galas and other high profile events across the country.
More about Andrew Günsberg:
Andrew Günsberg is a self-confessed music obsessive who once harboured an intense desire to be a rock star but fell into broadcasting instead.
Playing in school orchestras and performing in barbershop quartets is not the immediate image that comes to mind when you think of Andrew Günsberg but that is exactly where his life long love of music began. Throughout his younger years in Brisbane, he kept up his musical passion by learning to read and write music, learning to play the bass and double bass, attending not only music school but weekend school as well and studying for a year at South Brisbane TAFE.
With music in his head, Andrew left school and started performing in bands. Not content with just playing music, he got jobs as a roadie where he learnt a lot about logistics and the technical side of the industry.
Eventually Andrew found himself working as a Black Thunder pilot and doing on-air mid-dawn shifts at B105 radio station in Brisbane. Working as hard as he was, he quite often slept on the studio floor. After five years in radio, in 1999, Andrew was snapped up by Channel [V] to present their television music request show, whatUwant.
Over seven years at Channel [v], Andrew interviewed the biggest bands in the world, travelled the globe covering festivals and chasing interviews, and participated in some of the most raw and ground-breaking TV ever made in Australia.
From there it was only a hop, skip and a jump to be asked to host Australian Idol, one of the most phenomenally popular shows on Australian television (at the 2004 Logies the show received an award, and Andrew was nominated for the Silver Logie).
Andrew narrated the Logie award-winning documentary series Bondi Rescue, and hosted three New Year's Eve broadcasts for Network Ten.
In 2012, Andrew will host Photo Finish, Agony Aunts, Agony Uncles and Next Stop Hollywood for the ABC.
