Award winning musical satirist
A master at musical satire, Mark Weeks has been the winner of a number of gold medals at the International Radio Festival in New York. He has also enjoyed resident satirist status on programs including Alan Jones' breakfast program on Sydney's Radio 2UE and ABC TV's 7.30 Report.
Mark has performed cabaret style to professional audiences throughout Australasia for over twelve years. With briefing, he writes and performs tailor made musical interludes based on virtually any subject, with originality and brilliance.
When Mark Weeks performed the irreverent opening number I'd Always Planned to Be A Yuppie Broker for members of The Australian Stock Exchange at their annual black-tie dinner, the audience not only loved it, they called him back for four encores.
He has had similar success during the main program of insurance conferences, at cricketing dinners, the opening of a gold mine and at black-tie fundraising dinners.
About Mark Weeks:
Born in England and educated at Charterhouse, Mark was exposed to public performances from an early age, being an accomplished pianist and a keen thespian. On the musical side, he developed a wide variety of styles from classical through jazz and extending to contemporary rock. He divided his time between performances of the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 and 'jam' sessions with Peter Gabriel and the other founding members of the group 'Genesis'.
Mark worked for several years in the world of finance in London and this led him to Australia in the seventies. In 1980, Mark established his own company specialising in film and television music production. He composed and produced a number of highly successful commercial themes and jingles for major companies.
Mark accepted a contractual appointment as Musical Director/Consultant to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Perth and was involved in the production of well over one hundred radio and television programs.
The ABC encouraged Mark to develop his flair in satirical humour, and he was subsequently contracted to produce regular songs about current political and social topics for ABC capital city radio stations. This led to the highly successful satirical radio series Weeksie's Week and many appearances on ABC TV's 7.30 Report. Mark also spent five years contributing musical satire to Alan Jones' top rating breakfast show on Radio 2UE.
Mark's writing and broadcasting has been recognised internationally. He has reached finalist status an unprecedented seventeen times at the prestigious New York International Radio Festivals and his record of nine medals, including four golds, is a tribute to the consistency of his work.

Magnificent closing performance. The partners are still talking about it! Mark Weeks obviously put a lot of work into his performance and we are looking forward to working with him again.
An extremely witty and clever person. Mark Weeks did a top job and was appreciated by all attendees. I've no doubt that other states will want him for next year.
