ABC Radio Host, Musician, writer and MC

Richard Fidler is a broadcaster who has had several lives as a musician, writer and cartoonist. He currently hosts ABC radio’s The Conversation Hour which is broadcast on 702 ABC Sydney and 612 ABC Brisbane. In this longform interview show, Richard has conducted in-depth interviews with people like General Peter Cosgrove, Steve Waugh, Joanne Lees, Hugh Jackman and Jane Fonda.

Richard is known as a member of comedy group The Doug Anthony Allstars (DAAS) in another life. He played to audiences in London, Edinburgh, New York and Barcelona, as well as just about every town and city in Australia. With DAAS he appeared in many TV series, such as The Big Gig, DAAS Kapital in Australia, as well as Friday Night Live and Viva Cabaret in the UK, performing alongside the likes of Eartha Kitt and Tom Jones.

Since then, Richard has presented ABC TV’s documentary series Race Around the World, the arts and culture show Vulture and AfterShock, a series on future technology.

Richard is also the president of Brisbane’s longstanding contemporary art venue, the Institute of Modern Art in Fortitude Valley.
