Outstanding presenter, facilitator, trainer & media personality

Julie McCrossin is renowned across Australia for her warmth, humour, intelligence, professionalism and commitment to justice and diversity.

While Julie has a strong public profile in Australia as a radio broadcaster, a TV personality and a print journalist, she is also in demand as a professional MC, hosting and facilitating conferences, panel discussions, workshops, meetings and seminars, and as a public speaker.

Julie McCrossin talks to people for a living, but equally important is that she listens. Her approach to her work is marked by detailed research and her ability to maintain a specified event timetable.

About Julie McCrossin:

Julie presented the social issues program Life Matters on ABC Radio National for 5 years, initially with Geraldine Doogue and then as solo presenter.  Prior to Life Matters, Julie was a team leader on the media quiz show Good News Week on Network Ten and on ABC TV

Julie began working for the ABC back in 1983 on the women's radio program The Coming Out Show.  She's presented many Radio National programs including Background Briefing and Arts National, as well as stints on ABC Rural Radio and 702ABC Sydney.

Julie has worked as a TV reporter for both the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and ANZAC DAY... and she's thrilled to live in a country where it is possible to do both.  But her proudest media moment was her appearance on ABC TV's Play School as a silent clown called Plain Jane.

Julie has worked as a children's entertainer, literacy teacher and community legal educator.  She has university qualifications in the arts, education and law.

In November 2005, ABC Books published Forever Yours: Australia's Hidden Love Letters edited by Julie McCrossin and Kerrie Jean Ross with a foreword by Thomas Keneally.

Julie was extremely well-received by our audience. Her legal training, media background and her obvious sympathy with human rights issues made her not only an excellent MC, but also a wonderful advocate for us.

Amnesty International.

The Human Rights Unit would like to thank you very much for facilitating the The State of Human Rights panel event. We really appreciate the work that you put into becoming very well informed about the Charter and how it operates. You did a great job of ensuring that the event was interesting to everyone in the audience - from those with no knowledge to those who were very well informed.

Victorian Department of Justice

The hypothetical was brilliant and Julie McCrossin was excellent. She used her sharp wit, expert knowledge to engage the panel and audience in a very topical issue which resulted in many of the participants having a greater understanding of the sentencing procedure.

Law Society of NSW

I think that you added an extra, important element that is often missing from conferences - some life, personality, breadth of knowledge, and with a good dose of personal touch. It was a wise move to get you involved.

3rd Regional Acquired Brain Injury Conference "Transitions in Life: Skills, Initiatives and Optimism"

Very worthwhile. Lots to be learnt from others, skills and knowledge. A lot to take away. Julie was a very good facilitator, humorous style, confident speaker and keeps you awake. Thank you very much.
