David Campbell

Superb performer, presenter and MC

Singing sensation David Campbell is one of Australia's most popular, versatile and successful entertainers.

Not only has he had starring roles in musical theatre and cabaret, recorded three Top Ten albums and sold out concert tours around Australia, but he was youngest performer ever to headline at the iconic Rainbow & Stars cabaret room in New York, creating what Time Out New York described as "the biggest buzz since Barbra Streisand".

Before moving to New York, David performed at the Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney Opera House and starring in a major revival of Les Miserables.

The high praise he received in New York was undoubtedly deserved as David went on to star on Broadway, working with some of its luminaries such as Stephen Sondheim who cast him in the New York premiere of his musical Saturday Night. He also played leading roles in shows like Babes In Arms (at the Lincoln Center) and South Pacific.

In 2001, at the height of his New York success, David was tempted back to Australia by the role of a lifetime - Johnny O'Keefe, 'The Wild One' in the musical Shout! The show toured the country for over a year, and he became a household name as a result. David then went on to star in Australian productions of classic musicals like Carousel and Company, new works at the MTC and STC, and even in Pirates of Penzance for Opera Australia. Along the way, he picked up a Helpmann Award for Best Actor, for his 2005 role in Sunset Boulevard.

At the same time, David was also establishing himself as one of the country's biggest-selling recording artists. He has had a remarkable streak of four Top 10 albums in a row: The Swings Sessions [2006]; The Swing Sessions 2 [2007]; Good Lovin' [2008]; and On Broadway [2010]. He has also had no fewer than five sell-out concert tours for which he has received a further two Helpmann Awards. In 2009, his live concert DVD Good Lovin' Live hit number one on the ARIA charts.

Adding to David's long list of achievements in the entertainment industry is his appointment as Artistic Director of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival (the largest cabaret festival in the world), and the success of Luckiest Productions, the production company he runs with his wife Lisa. Luckiest now produces all of his national tours, as well as many other independent projects.

As well as being in demand for his musical performances, David has been MC and host at corporate events for some of Australia's top businesses. He was also chosen to take part in the G'Day USA program as both a headline act and MC. The program brings together industry leaders and key influencers in government, business, tourism, academia and the arts and is designed to showcase Australian business capabilities in the US.

David is the co-host of the national show Mornings for the Nine Network and was nominated for Most Popular New Talent at the 2013 Logie Awards.

Whether it is as a host or a performer, David Campbell brings his undoubted star power and talent to make any corporate event a success.
