Award Winning Comedian

An award winning comedian, Anthony Mir's style is assertive and visual. Cleverly punctuating his verbal routine with character voices and hilarious contortions of his body and face, Anthony leaves audiences wanting more.

Beginning his professional stand-up career in 1992, Anthony Mir quickly found himself in the enviable position of comedy writer and performer with 2Day FM's Morning Crew. Working for two years with Wendy Harmer and Jamie Dunn (alias Agro), Anthony wrote scripts, performed character voices and did comedy line writing. On air he was known as 'Captain Sydney'.

On television, Anthony Mir was the writer and performer of The 50 foot Show on the Comedy Channel and host of Headliners. For SBS he was host of Hotline and Tutti. He also appeared on the Good New Week Debates, The Footy Show, the ABC’s Sex Guys and Videotape and Mouthing Off for the Comedy Channel.

A regular feature performer and master of ceremonies at The Sydney Comedy Store, Anthony Mir has toured all the major circuits and comedy festivals including Edinburgh, London, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

His live shows include the award winning All Aussie Are Boofta sketch show, Bound and Gagged and Hoot for which he was awarded the Australian Comedians in Concert Award (1996).

Voted Sydney Comedian of the Year (1992), Anthony Mir performed at the Australian launch of the film Bi-centennial Man, where he was told by the acclaimed Robyn Williams 'That was great man! You really nailed them!'

In 2003, Anthony Mir co-wrote, directed and starred in the comedy film You Can’t Stop the Murders with fellow comedians Gary Eck and Akmal Saleh.
