MD, Cisco Systems (ANZ)

Terry Walsh is the Managing Director of Cisco Systems’ Australia/New Zealand operations. Terry was promoted to this position in August 1999 from his previous role as General Manager, Service Provider Line of Business for Cisco in Australia. Prior that to role, Terry was Cisco Northern Regional Manager.

Terry Walsh has been with Cisco for 7 years and has spent more than 22 years in the Australian IT industry. A passionate believer in the benefits of the Internet to business, society and education, Terry has not only led sales growth in each position he has held but has also inculcated a culture of ‘giving back’ during his time as Managing Director.

In 2000, Terry Walsh became the first Cisco Australia and New Zealand Managing Director to introduce a localised Mission Statement, which reflects not only the business goals of the organization but also the desire to use Internet technologies to promote opportunities for the betterment of society and education. Cisco’s work with The Smith Family in Australia since 2000 has reflected that philosophy. During 2001, The Cisco-Smith Family partnership won the Prime Minister’s Award for Community/Corporate Partnerships.

Prior to working for Cisco, Terry Walsh held positions across Australia and the Asian region, including the General Manager of Asian Operations for a multinational IT company.

Terry Walsh completed a Bachelor of Business, with a double major in Computer Programming and Systems Analysis at the Curtin Institute of Technology, Western Australia in 1980.
