Former Chair, Saatchi & Saatchi

Former Chair of Saatchi & Saatchi, Sandra Yates is one of Australia's most prominent and influential corporate businesswomen.  With broadbased management experience in business, education and the arts, Sandra gives a unique perspective on contemporary communication issues.

Sandra is Chair of the NSW TAFE Commission Board, the largest provider of vocational education and training in the world.  She is also Chair of the Sydney Writer's Festival, a joint initiative of the Premier's Department and the City of Sydney; and Chair of Books Alive!, an initiative of the Federal Government funded by the Australia council. 

From 1996 to 2004, Sandra was Chair of Saatchi & Saatchi.   She continued her association with the company as a Board Member and has held positions on the Board of the NSW Major Events Board, the Taronga Foundation and the Advertising Federation of Australia (AFA) - creators of the world's first code of ethics for advertising. 

Sandra was President of Matilda Publications Inc. New York from 1987 to 1989.  In 1988 with her then business partner, Dr. Anne Summers, Sandra led the second woman-led LBO in US corporate history to found Matilda Publications Inc, which published Sassy and Ms magazines for teenage girls.

In 1994-95 she was the Chair of the Australian Council for Women, the Australian Government's advisory body for the 4th United Nations Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995. In that capacity she was a Government adviser and delegate to the conference.

From 1990-93, Sandra was Publisher for Time magazine, South Pacific edition.  During this time the magazine became the No 1 news and business magazine both in circulation and readership.

Sandra was honoured with an appointment as an Officer in the Order of Australia in 2002
