Jean-Paul Bell, Humour Dynamics

Described as “the face that could launch a thousand laughs’, Jean Paul Bell brings laughter and entertainment to audiences while delivering powerful and informative presentations.

As Founder and CEO of The Humour Foundation, Jean Paul knows that laughter truly is the best medicine and that its physiological and psychological benefits are real in helping to relieve stress and fear.

A non-profit organisation, The Humour Foundation was established in 1997 by Dr Peter Spitzer, Jean-Paul Bell and four other founding members. A registered charity supported by the community, The Humour Foundation benefits the entire hospital community - patients, families and staff - as clown rounds are conducted throughout hospital wards, bringing fun and laughter to children in hospital.

For the corporate sector Jean Paul is a humour consultant, keynote speaker, and writes scripts, concepts, hoaxes and performances. Bringing fun to the workplace, Jean Paul’s customised concepts help boost company morale, improve motivation and combat stress.

From a background in mime, Jean Paul’s career has spanned 25 years in theatre, comedy, festivals, schools, television, and in corporate and educational films. His humour has featured regularly on TV shows such as The Big Gig, Live and Sweaty, Hey Hey It's Saturday and The Vizard Show.

Jean Paul has performed in Servant of Two Masters at Nimrod Theatre, in TV dramas such as GP, Water Rats, and Bordertown and was assistant director to Morris West for the Adelaide Festival of Arts production of The World in Made of Glass. His solo show Mime What You Say! was performed at the Belvoir St Theatre Sydney, The Queensland Performing Arts Centre and in remote places as diverse as aboriginal communities and Fijian schools.

In 2002 Jean Paul visited Afghanistan as Australia’s representative for “Patchwork for Peace” together with 22 clowns from around the world. Accompanied by ABC reporter Gerald Tooth, Jean Paul raised $15,000 for the Panjet Girls High School in Kabuli.
