Steven Bradbury is as successful on skates as he is in business. The speed skater created history in Salt Lake City when he became the first Australian to win a Winter Olympic Gold Medal – following a spectacular final-lap spill that took out his four rivals. To sweeten the unexpected win, he was wearing the speed skates he’d made in his own factory - the Revolutionary Boot Company.
While Steven is no longer an elite competitor on the ice, his speed skates continue to lead the way in international competition – RBC exports custom speed skates and cycling shoes to 19 countries around the world.

About Steve Bradbury:
Steven Bradbury’s story is one of pure strength and determination in pursuit of Olympic Gold. He is a four time Olympian, having competed in Albertville (1992), Lillehammer (1994) where he was part of the 5000-metre speed-skating relay team that won bronze, Nagano (1998) and his Gold medal win in Salt Lake City (2002).
In Montreal, 1994, a race accident left Steven Bradbury impaled on a skate with a cut so extreme he lost 4 litres of blood and required 111 stitches. He was lucky to survive. In 2000, Steven Bradbury fractured his neck in a training accident. He had four bolts drilled into his head to secure a brace restricting the movement of his neck. Not satisfied he had skated his best, Steven resolved to stick with the sport he had dedicated 10 years of his life to.
Dubbed "the luckiest gold medalist", Steven won fans the world over for the honesty and humility he showed after his win. He saw his victory as a reward not for one race, but for a decade of hard work, commitment and sacrifice.
Steven Bradbury has continued his success. He operates a business making custom speed skates and regularly presents as a motivational speaker, MC and after dinner speaker to corporate clients, sporting clubs, schools and charity organisations. Steven Bradbury’s presentations are humorous, inspirational entertaining. I go to a lot of conferences and hear a lot of speakers but never, and I mean NEVER, have I seen a speaker get a standing ovation like our delegates gave Steven. The energy in that room was electric. It was an emotional journey.
