Roger Climpson, Respected TV Personality
Roger Climpson is one of Australia’s best known and most respected television personalities.
A veteran of the Australian media, Roger Climpson began his career in radio theatre during the early 1950s. He then joined Channel Nine at its inception in 1956 where he worked as a general announcer for nine years.

In 1967 Roger Climpson became the voice and face of Channel Seven Sydney as Senior Newscaster, a position he held for fifteen years. During this time he received the Sydney TV Newsreader Award five times.
In 1977 he became an afternoon presenter on Radio 2GB Sydney and started hosting the top rating television program This is Your Life, hosting 150 episodes from 1977 to 1982.
In 1982, Roger Climpson retired from Channel Seven to undertake the running of his family business, however he returned to Channel Seven as leading news presenter from 1989 to 1994.
From 1983 to 1989 Roger Climpson was contracted by AMP Society to present their radio and television commercials and documentaries. In 1984 and 1987 he was also a television presenter for Australia World Vision in developing countries.
In 1987 Roger Climpson’s book Elinda, the true story of a down syndrome child, was published by Hodder & Stroughton (Australia) Pty Ltd.
In 1994 Roger Climpson was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery, which was successful. The following year he created The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia with The Rotary Club of Lane Cove and became their founding patron.
From 1997 to 1998 Roger was the host of Channel Seven’s program Australia’s Most Wanted.

Roger Climpson is currently Chairman of Sydney Community Radio Station FM103.2 – The Heart of Sydney. He began presenting for the Association in the early 1960s and was appointed as a Director of the Association in 1983 before accepting his current role of Chairman in 1995.
Roger Climpson is the recipient of numerous awards including the Television Society of Australia’s Best Newsreader Award (1978); the Producer’s & Director’s Guild Of Australia Lifetime Achievement Award (1994); the Rotary Vocational Excellence Award (1995); the Variety of Australia’s "The Television Award" (1995); and the Bible Society’s Flame Award (1998).
In 2004 Roger Climpson was awarded The Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for services to the media, particularly through the Christian Broadcasting Association and to the community through a range of service groups.
