Ros Moriarty, MD, Jumbana Group
Ros Moriarty is Managing Director of the Jumbana Group, the country’s leading indigenous art and design studio that markets its work domestically and internationally.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Australian National University, Ros Moriarty was formerly a journalist working with Radio Australia based in Melbourne. She has also held senior positions with Australian Volunteers Abroad and the Department of Aboriginal Affairs in both Canberra and Sydney.
Ros Moriarty’s Board appointments have included the Council of the National Gallery of Australia, Australian Major Events, and the Council of the Australian Academy of Design.
In a distinguished career, she has been awarded South Australian Business Woman of the Year (1993), the Advance Australia Award for Service to Industry and Commerce (1994), and the St Peter’s Citizenship Award (1995). Ros Mariarty is currently a Board Member of the Menzies School of Health Research, Darwin.
Ros was inducted into the Australian Business Women’s Hall of Fame in 1999, and the same year was a finalist in the NSW Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Ros Moriarty’s role with Jumbana is to manage the Group’s strategic growth, articulate the company’s philosophical and visual charter, create innovative marketing opportunities for corporate design services, and work with clients and the creative team to deliver design solutions.
In establishing Jumbana in 1983 with her husband, Aboriginal artist John Moriarty, Ros sought to celebrate the dual cultural heritage of their three children – young indigenous Australians with a deep, real connection to their father’s lineage, and a place to belong in mainstream Australian society.
