James O'Loghlin is the host of The New Inventors on ABCTV and Sunday Nights on ABC Local Radio. He is an experienced and talented comedian, MC, after dinner speaker and panel facilitator. He is also a sensational corporate entertainer with the versatility and skill to moderate, host, speak or entertain as needed.

Drawing on his experience as host of “The New Inventors” James is able to talk about how everyone can become more innovative, not by throwing more money at R and D, but by changing the way in which they think. He discusses how modern work practices - meetings, phone calls, emails - can rob of us of the time we need to do the one thing essential for innovation; thinking.

He suggests ways in which people and companies can get more thinking happening, and can organise themselves so that they maximize their chances of being able to produce and use new and useful ideas.

James is also able to tell the story of his life, in a way that is both very funny and has relevant lessons for business. James went to a private school, studied law at university and became a corporate lawyer. Then one day he woke up. He realised that he had had every opportunity a person could want, but had never made a decision in his life, and so had ended up with a career he didn’t want.

From there he threw himself into stand up comedy, and left corporate law to become a criminal lawyer. Through the 1990’s he had 2 parallel careers; criminal lawyer by day, and comedian by night.

In 1999 he left the law, and since then has forged 2 more careers, in television and radio. James’s story is very funny and entertaining, but it is also about the importance of making choices and challenging yourself, and of not accepting the status quo just because it seems like the easiest option. It is about taking control of your life, your business and your career by dreaming big, getting hard-headed and strategic, and making those dreams come true.
